Top 10 Simple Ways To Avoid Looking Like A Goof

Elementary tactics to achieve greatness

goofWant to achieve greatness?  Of course you do, who doesn’t?  We must always remember that showbiz is a business, and that certain qualities will help set us apart and bring us closer to our goals.

Don’t have any goals?  Ahh, read #2 on the list.

I’ve put together the Top 10 simple tactics that have kept me on track and moving toward my goals.  Taken together, they are all equally responsible for the success I’ve gained thus far in my life.  I hope you find these useful…

1) Keep a Daily To-Do List

So simple, yet so powerful.  In a world with facebook, text messaging and reality TV, we can easily get distracted and sidetracked and forget about those important little things we needed to do.  Plus, it feels great to cross out each item.

2) Set Goals

You must know where you are heading and how you plan on getting there. Whether you set short term or long term goals, keep your eye on the prize and you’ll continue to grow.

3) Read Think and Grow Rich

A classic.  This book has been around for ages and is called ‘the best selling success book of all time.’  First published in 1937, Think and Grow Rich is, amazingly, still relevant.

4) Take Time For Yourself

Also known as ‘recharging your batteries,’ make sure to leave adequate time for yourself.  Use this time to read, watch TV, exercise or anything else you take comfort in.

5) Laugh

Scientific study after scientific study have found the natural benefits of laughter. Whether you laugh at yourself, your dog or your boss, make sure to laugh everyday.

6) Carry a Pen at All Times

No doubt your mind is on a consistent loop of ideas, thoughts, and lists.  You never know when a creative spark will hit.  You’ll want to capture that spark.

7) Listen

The experts say we should listen more than we speak.  Not to be confused with ‘take all the advice we hear,’ listening to the people and the world around us will help us learn a thing or two.

8) Jot Down Thoughts and Ideas

Getting your thoughts and ideas down in a notebook will do two things; One, it’ll clear your mind for new thoughts and ideas to arrive. Two, it’ll keep your ideas brewing for potential future use.  (Oh, it’ll also enhance your creativity.)

9) Be Perceptive

Be aware of what’s going on around you.  Pay attention to detail. Take notice of things.  Read the headlines.

10) Always Be Learning (also known as growing)

Knowledge is power.  The more you know, the better shape you’ll be in. Read.  Study.  Watch Jeopardy.
