Does Your Child Actor Have The ‘IT’ Factor?

it-factorThe showbiz IT factor… We’ve all heard the phrase, “You either got it or you don’t!”  But what exactly is ‘IT?’

Also known as The IT Factor, this usually refers to that undefinable personality trait that makes a person attractive in some way.  That thing you just can’t put your finger on.  Ever find yourself saying with a smirk, “I just don’t know what it is about that person…”  That’s the IT factor.

How does it feel to be around someone like that?  You’re almost drawn to them, magnetically so to speak.  At a party or event, the person who has IT will usually be the one with people surrounding them.  This is not to say people of this nature are selfish or self-absorbed.  Quite the opposite is true.

Some of the more definable personality traits of someone who has it include:

  • Genuine
  • Warm
  • Inviting
  • Friendly
  • Fun
  • Charming
  • Smart

The IT factor in showbiz

Some may look at auditioning as a necessary evil.  Whatever your take is on the audition process, your child will need to woo the ‘powers that be.’

At times, an agent or casting director won’t know exactly what they are looking for in a child but will say something like, “I’ll know it when I see it.”  They are, of course, referring to that all elusive “IT factor.”

The “IT factor” is one of those undefinable personality traits that a person has that you can’t quite explain.  It is what makes them who they are.  A person with the “IT factor” will naturally draw people to them.  They will demand (in a good, natural way) the attention of others when they enter a room.

People will automatically smile when they first see a person with this factor.  They will want to listen to them, get to know them and want to be around them.

Does Your Child Have IT?

Generally, you can tell right away who has IT and who doesn’t have IT.  Elements such as confidence, charm, and appearance can help bring out a person’s “IT factor.”  You can certainly help your child grow by providing them with the proper love and support that will allow them to shine in all they do in showbiz.
